Editorial Policy

How we choose what to write. Topics are prioritized by what readers search for and what affects care decisions, not by what generates the most affiliate revenue.

How we check facts. Clinical claims are checked against current guidelines from ASCRS, ACG, USPSTF, and NICE. Where evidence is uncertain or mixed, we say so rather than presenting a single number as settled fact.

Medical review. We are in the process of contracting a named, verifiable medical reviewer (colorectal surgeon or gastroenterologist). Articles are not labeled “medically reviewed” until a specific, named reviewer has actually reviewed them — we do not use this label generically.

What we never do in diagnostic tools. Our symptom checker and triage tools never contain brand names, product links, or affiliate content. Their only job is to help you decide how urgently to seek care.

Corrections. We publish a public corrections log. See something wrong? Use the “Report an error” link at the bottom of any page, or email corrections@hemorrhoidexpert.org.
